Eileen - so glad you are exploring your options. Would be nice to have something in place when the job ends, then the severance will go further.
I'm doing OK. Michael is still in the hospital and getting more and more bored and sick of it. Which is probably a good sign that he is better. His fever has been down the last day or so, and he has his appetite back - even griping about the hospital food. He has had a few visitors besides me, so that helps. And ... NOW it's the weekend, so I can just focus on him and our dog. My work has been cut by one day a week starting next week, so I'm taking Monday off as my unpaid day. I have lots to do that day.
Anyway, things are getting a bit easier, thank goodness. And best of all, he is doing better! We are so fortunate to have health insurance and good doctors.

So sorry to read of your lay off. I didn't see the earlier post. What a real bummer, and just when you were coming out of bankruptcy. My sister got SSDIB, but it took almost two years. I'd say contact a social security disability attorney (after you talk to your doctor and get him on board) as soon as possible to get the ball rolling. It will certainly put your mind at ease to have some money coming in. Sounds like a great idea to help the obese. I hope you can find something to keep yourself going.

So sorry to hear about the job situation. My husband and I worked for a large electronics company for many years. In 1996 the division I was in closed down and 3000 people lost their jobs. The division was located in a small city. We (the 3000 of us) were encouraged to look elsewhere for work. I was lucky and found work with the same company in Oregon. So, we sold everything and moved. It was both a scary and exciting time.
I hope that you can get disability and also pursue your idea of being an advocate for obese people.
Uncertainty is hard. But, at least now you know what you are facing.

Nothing much happening here with me today. I wanted to sleep in but then that never works. My body always has it's own ideas about how much sleep I really need!
Went out last night with my best friend. We had a couple drinks and went home. It was just too darn cold to be out!
No real plans for today...will have to wait and see what comes up.

Eleen, I am so sorry I know these times are so hard.My Husband lost his job a year ago and still looking. They were nice enough to let the guys work half a day and then let them know the plant was closing at noon for good.
I am doing well, I have lost a little more the pain is going down, I see the Dr. On Tuesday. So will let you know how that goes.
I am having a Board Meeting at 11:00 so off to the shower.

You must be in shock Eileen. Even though you had a feeling it was coming, the reality is shocking isn't it? I haven't got any advice....it sounds like you've been gearing up for this possibility for a while and you'll handle it.
I'm packing for my trip to San Francisco- it's time for my oncologist appointment. I stay in a beautiful Japanese hotel and walk to the medical center and other places that catch my eye. If the appointment is uneventful (the worst appt. was scary- had to have another biopsy because the cancer site looked suspicious), I will walk to a great shopping area and go from store to store. I enjoy going to SF alone- at first it was scary, but now I truly enjoy the solitude.

I know what you mean about the oncologist appnts Julia....I go for another one in February, I hope he isnt going to order a scan again. I hate the shots I have to get before hand....

But you have an option you can always sub teach....I cant cause I only have a 60 credit cosmetology degree and that doesnt count.
My first week at my new job was very good. I cant wait till I can do it all on my own.
It is snowing down here in the Gulf coast of Florida. Just tiny flakes but snow just the same!!!!!
